Meet me at FOSDEM
Friday, February 23rd, 2007Repairing my Grundig DVD-Player
Saturday, February 3rd, 2007My first standalone DVD-Player was a Grundig Xenaro GDP 6150/2 which is or at least was a high class player back in those days. The only reason i could afford it was that back then i was working for Grundig’s Research Department and had the chance to use their special sales shop for employees.
But the player now was unused for about a year or longer now and it seems to be broken. When connected to mains it just started to produce a periodical clicking noise and a red blinking LED. First investigations in the inwards showed the problem was on the main supply board. After taking a close look it showed that the trigger level for the oscillationcircuit wasn’t high enough anymore due to a run-down capacitor (C204 on the board / 1µF, 50V) and a (now) misadjusted trimmer (resistor) next to it. So, replacing the capacitor and readjusting the trimmer (while power is connected) until the circuit starts oscillating again did the trick for me.
As this seems to be a general flaw in this part of the player perhaps someone could also need this information.. But be carefull! I don’t give any warranties this will also work for you. You should definitly have a good clue what you are doing when working on those parts of your player.
